Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year!
Love,
Flores Family (Orlando, FL)
ok, so last but not least we ended our morning of opening gifts with a good cup of coffee made by "daddy" and watched him fry a good bowl of Yuca...none of us eat yuca only him lol...
now...stop! and take a picture of us! heheheh! I love this time of the year...having kids makes it so enjoyable...

stop guys! let's take another picture with mommy!

Kids...stopping themselves from opening gifts to pose for mommy!

Christmas dinner

I'm aware that there's a big red glow from the bottom of the picture...but this was the only picture we took on Christmas where Emily was looking at the camera...lol
kids patiently waiting for dinner...
if anyone is wondering....the yuca and pork were ordered but the rice, bread and empanadas were proudly made by us...

ok...I know, it sure seems like a lot of food for just the 4 of us...and really 3 of us because Emily barely eats...but we always over do it, this is our 2nd Christmas spending it by ourselves and though we really enjoy it, we are not 100% used to it so, we tend to order or make too much food...anyway, our dinner included the following: pork, moros=rice with beans, Yuca, pastelitos or meat empanadas (made by me), bread and delicious red wine from the "local" winery...I had such a great time...oh yes! and for dessert: cookies from our neighbors (the Trotti's) and pineapple cake made by me...

Emily dancing with "papino"=grandfather...
Daddy, Emily and uncle Ralph!

ok, so the weekend before Christmas, Ralph (my brother in law) came down to Miami, for Christmas together w/Reed and Kirsten... of course we went to visit...we really couldn't stay for Christmas, but we had a great time and enjoyed the so much needed family time...here you see the grandparents enjoying all three of their grandkids...awww! so adorable....

our outside decor...provided by "daddy" this year it was almost impossible to put everything we normally put up...there was just not enough time...but René did a great job keeping it simple yet nice...thank you honey...

and then our tradition...the kids help "daddy" with the tree topper...how nice... :)

The kids helped with the decorating of the tree...looked so cute...

All done! I thought it was a great idea at first...then...well, it looked so much better on TV lol!...well they did put them on NICE and BIG silver candle holders...so it looked very shiny but either way it was a nice idea and we had so much fun doing it together...and putting them next to our Advent calendar was daddy's awesome idea...Thanks everyone!
Daddy being silly as we finalized our project...

Kids helped me with a small Christmas project for the house...I actually saw this on HGTV and it was pretty cool...Emily and René A. helped with the unwrapping of the peppermint candies...
Who's this?? You guessed it! René volunteered for the after school program at Rene's school to be Santa and hand out their gifts...René A. was so proud of him...
ok, so this is Rene's gingerbread house...somehow that's not what it looked like when he brought it home...it looked like a hurricane had gone by...then again maybe he was just trying to be original considering that we DO live in Florida...lol...
The day after the kids had their Christmas party and they made Gingerbread houses...aww...don't they look busy? yeah...if only they would behave this way at home....
and this one is Rene's a beautiful turtle...and yes...we bought it....
René A. school had an art sale and Rene's grade was in charge of doing their own Mola Art using the Kuna Indians as their inspiration...
ok, I promise it will look better when we're done decorating it....
On the 2nd week of December is when we FINALLY had our chance to get our Christmas tree...we normally get it the day after Thanksgiving but we couldn't do that this year, so out we went...I wanted a "tall" and thin tree, René wanted a tall and big tree and well this is what we got...oops but wait we had to take our picture first...every year we take a picture in front of the tree that we are purchasing that year...and well this year we couldnt' because it was a real challenge to keep these kids together so...this is the best shot we had....

and now...let the fun of December begin...

But my favorite is the one my two men made...lol...well made by René and decorated by René A. ...I loved it!
The family that made this cake ALWAYS makes the nicest cakes...last year it had 2 bottles of champagne and it sold for as much as $130.00, now keep in mind these auctions start at $10.00 so that's a lot to say...this cake had a tunnel that where the little train goes thru it was just adorable!

ok, but fun doesn't end there...... Every year around the holidays our scout pack organizes a cake bake auction with the aim of raising money for a family in need. The goal is not only for the scout to bake a cake with dad but to also exercise kindness and to give to those who are less fortunate. Another quality of this event is to simply have fun making a huge mess!!! these are some of the nicest ones...ours is the fourth one down...
oops! look who's here....lol, now after all this not to mentioned this was a work week and I was at work then I picked up Emily at school and well blah blah blah....Would you believe me if I told you they were in bed by 10:30PM? Well Yes they were and boy was I happy!
This night was far from over at least for me...you see René A. had won a night at Sliderz with all his scouts friends...this is like a bounce place for kids and maybe adults...so, after we attended Emily's party I took them to this place and boy did they have fun as you can see René A. had no fear he just bounced and slided away...
The three musketeers! Thanks a lot guys...BUT...
On Friday, René had a "gig" playing for Emily's school Christmas party...here we see, René on Bass, Tyler on Trumpet and Eric on Drums, they sounded sooooooooooo good, and Emily did a lot of dancing...
So....René got home from Denver on Tuesday after Thanksgiving and on Thursday René A. had his school presentation where he said a few words on stage and he did such a good job we are so proud of him he sounded so cute....

I wish we could've been there....(Abuela Violeta, Cotorrita, Gordo, Michael, Emily, René A. and myself) lol...this is a very nice picture...
The Priest giving his blessing...

On November 29th, 2008 René together with Ralph, Kirsten, Gretchen and Mike baptized Reed Augustus Flores....what a beautiful cake...

The day after Thanksgiving....

On the day after Thanksgiving René left to Denver to baptize his nephew Reed Augustus, on that Saturday and this is what he found when he arrived at his brother's house...isn't it beautiful? I haven't seen snow in a while so for me this is just breathtaking...I think the last time I saw snow was when we visited in 2005 and went to the "NORTH POLE" heheeh! it's a Christmas themed park they have up there I remember I was pregnant w/Emily (about 2 months) so I couldn't really roll around the snow and enjoy it as much (bummer!)

OUR Anniversary....

November 27th, 1999
What's meant to be, will always find it's way....
As many of you already know...René and I first got "legally" married on April 4th 1997, ...and then a little over 2 years later on November 27, 1999 we got married by church...I always wanted a church wedding and not because of the beauty of it (lol), but because of what it meant to me...and I don't mean to sound corny or silly or whatever, but somehow in my weird way I believed that if God didn't want us to be together this wedding would've never happened and our marriage would've never been blessed...so...here we are today 11 years later or should I say 9 years later? We are still growing strong and love each other very much...I wouldn't change anything from the way we did things...even though we didn't follow the "guidelines" at the end of the day what really mattered is that we love each other and feel very lucky to have our kids...NoW...if you are wondering if this means that we went thru our "seventh year itch" twice? I will never tell....hehehehehhe!!!! But considering that we only knew each other for 3 months before we decided to take the big step and get married and move to California...and overcome all the obstacles we encounter on the way and back...I can only wish that the love and respect we have for each other grows stronger every day and that we can give our kids the same values we've received from our parents...I love you honey...

Also, for Thanksgiving = a week later (more or less) my sister Nela hosted the dinner and my other sister Sandra decided to celebrate Rene's birthday with his cousins in Miami....and as you can see he was thrilled and so were we...

René, Logan, Micah, Colin and Griffin enjoying some good bowling game...

René eating pizza with his friends, Quinn, Logan and Quinn's brother Griffin...awww! little angels...

Getting Emily to look at the camera sure was a challenge! she kept looking at the balloons that were hanging from the ceiling...but at least René looked...HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!

So...a week after camping...it was Rene's 8th birthday and we celebrated it at Firkin and Kegler which is a...fairly new bowling place near our house...René had so much fun...and as you can appreciate in this picture...so did "dad"

ok what is the scout's motto? "Always be prepared", right? No problem with our new family here heheheh! what do you think? lol I think we can all learn from them...
This is the entrance to the campsite, now I've never been there so bare with me on these postings I will give as much information I have but trust me, it's not much...when the guys go camping you can see they did a bunch of stuff but you ask them and the're like..."ahh...everything was ok, we are tired..." and that's it! lol, too typical huh!
